Send a wishlist reminder event to Klaviyo

How it works

When a shopper adds an item to a Wysh wishlist, this template waits two days, then sends a Wishlist reminder event to Klaviyo. The event includes customer, wishlist and product details that you can use to personalise a reminder and bring the shopper back to their saved item.

You can adjust the delay to suit your reminder strategy. The Shopify workflow sends the event; you configure the reminder email separately in Klaviyo.

Before you start

• Wysh: installed and active on your Shopify store.
• Shopify Flow: available on your store so you can import and edit the workflow.
• Klaviyo: set up for your store, with your Klaviyo Public API Key ready. The template leaves this field blank.

Install the workflow

1. Download and extract the file. Use the Download ZIP button, then unzip the package to get wysh_klaviyo_wishlist_reminder.flow.
2. Open Shopify Flow. In your Shopify admin, open the Shopify Flow app.
3. Import the template. Choose Import workflow and upload the extracted .flow file.
4. Review the steps. Confirm the imported workflow contains the Wysh trigger, a two-day wait and the Klaviyo event action. Complete the settings below before enabling it.

Customise the workflow

• Add your Public API Key. Open the Klaviyo action and enter the Public API Key from the Klaviyo account you want to receive the events.
• Confirm the event name. The default is Wishlist reminder. If you rename it, use the same name when setting up the corresponding trigger in Klaviyo.
• Review the event details. Keep the customer email mapping and check the wishlist and product properties. The template includes wishlist name and ID, product name and ID, vendor, category, currency, stock level, image URL, product URL and collections.
• Choose your delay. Keep the two-day wait or change it in Shopify Flow to match your reminder strategy.

Tip: To compare reminder timings, prepare separate workflow versions with clear names. Plan which version handles each shopper so duplicate active workflows do not send unintended reminders.

Enable and test

1. Prepare the test. Use a test customer with an email address and a product available in Wysh. Keep any Klaviyo email flow using this event in draft or manual mode while you check the setup.
2. Save and enable the workflow. Save your API key and settings, then turn the workflow on in Shopify Flow. It must be enabled to respond to new wishlist activity.
3. Trigger a new run. Add the product to the test customer's wishlist on your storefront. Check the workflow run in Shopify Flow and allow the configured delay to finish.
4. Check Klaviyo. Confirm that Wishlist reminder appears against the correct profile and that the wishlist and product details are populated as expected.

Testing a shorter delay? Use a separate test store or restrict a test copy to your test customer before enabling it. Restore the intended delay and remove or disable the test copy before rolling the workflow out to shoppers.

Use the event in Klaviyo

Once the event arrives successfully, use it as the trigger for your Klaviyo reminder flow or in a customer segment. Use its product and wishlist properties to build the email content, then preview and test the email before enabling delivery.

Review the flow's audience, consent settings and purchase exclusions so the reminder reaches the intended shoppers. This template contains no condition that rechecks whether the item has been purchased or removed during the wait.

Troubleshooting

• No workflow run: confirm the workflow is enabled, then trigger fresh wishlist activity with the test customer.
• No Klaviyo event: check the run for errors, confirm the Public API Key and customer email mapping, and allow the configured wait to complete.
• Missing event details: review the mapped customer, wishlist and product properties in the Klaviyo action.
• Event received but no email: check the event name, status and filters of your Klaviyo email flow. Receiving an event does not automatically send an email.
• Duplicate or mistimed reminders: check for multiple active workflows and review both the Shopify Flow wait and any additional delay in Klaviyo.
